The Divine Office, sanctifying the hours of the day, is prayed daily. All Sisters must pray Mattins and Evensong. Many Sisters are able to pray one or more of the Lesser Offices as well. The Community uses The English Office Book for Mattins and Evensong and a supplemental text for the Lesser Hours.
Sisters living in community pray a six-fold Divine Office daily as per the convent Horarium - see link to "Our Life".
Periods of silent prayer and meditation are scheduled daily. Sisters attend Retreats and Quiet Days and use devotional aids such as the Rosary, Orthodox Prayer Rope and Stations of the Cross, if desired, to enhance and deepen their prayer life. Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament is encouraged as a frequent practice. There are guidelines for fasting and sacramental confession. Study, most especially of Holy Scripture, is paramount to the life of a Religious Sister. All Sisters will be guided by a Spiritual Director who has been approved by the Community. Sisters report on a regular basis to the Superior. |
