Is God calling you to a life of prayer and service?

SSC is an international, ecumenical religious sisterhood of laywomen, married and single, living and working in their own homes and communities under Vows of Simplicity, Purity and Obedience as Extern Sisters.

Conventual Sisters live an expression of traditional Religious Life in community, with a semi-contemplative ethos. This vocation is offered for unmarried women under the Vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience. * At the present time, Sacred Cross Convent has had to temporarily close due to lack of funds. When God is pleased to allow us to re-open, we will obediently do so. Thus, we continue to discern with inquirers to this expression of our life. Once sufficient financial support is available we pray to re-establish our Convent. In the meantime the number of Extern Sisters is growing rapidly.

Could God be calling you to serve Him within a traditional, conservative, Religious Community, committed to the historic Catholic Faith? Learn More ! [ contact us ]

News: Annual General Chapter, September 2012
Father Charles Lachowitzer is pictured above with several SSC Sisters, including Mother Wendy, Superior General, following the Community Mass in September 2012 which he celebrated. Father Lachowitzer is a Catholic priest who is a Regional Vicar in the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis.

Father spent several days with the Sisters during their week-long Chapter providing Sacramental ministration and enjoying fellowship.

**August 2013: To all who have may have visited our web site and wondered what has been going on lately within the Community, we do apologize for having been so out-of-date! Our web site stats indicate a large number of visits to the site daily. We truly desire to keep it as current as possible. However, this past year, the leadership of SSC has been exceedingly busy and the months have slipped away all too quickly as we have attended to administration and a myriad of other responsibilities. This fact becomes inevitable as we grow and evolve.

We offer a few key up-dates for now but as it is only another month until September's General Chapter 2013, and preparations tend to peak at this time of year, we must wait until later in the fall for a more thorough and detailed review. Please keep checking back. We will be adding more recent pictures to the photo album and new video clips of Community events. There will also be a new newsletter, God willing, sometime in Advent. We can safely say it will be a jam packed edition with lots of news as we receive new Postulants, celebrate the Clothing of Novices and First Profession of Vows. We praise God that, by His Grace, we continue to evolve and grow.

May God bless all of you who support and encourage us in so many ways.
